Arrests Made in Atul Subhash s Suicide Case

Bengaluru Police on Sunday (December 15) informed that AI Engineer Atul Subhash s wife Nikita Singhania has been arrested from Gurugram, Haryana, while Nikita s mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania were taken into custody from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh in connection with his suicide.

Family Expresses Concern Over Child s Whereabouts

Meanwhile, the deceased engineer s family on Sunday expressed concern about Atul s son and requested the authorities to trace and hand over the child to them. Atul s father Pawar Kumar appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safe return of his grandson, seeking custody of the four-year-old boy.

My son was harassed for money and his wife was humiliating him... I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all concerned parties to... please provide us with justice, Kumar said.

Allegations of Harassment and Financial Distress

According to PTI, My son was broken from inside... despite being harassed by his wife and in-laws, he did not reveal it to us. His suicide note also mentions that the custody of his child should be given to his parents.

Kumar added that Subhash had even been ordered to pay ₹40,000 per month as maintenance for his son. She (Subhash s estranged wife) filed several false cases against me and my son. Those who tortured my son mentally should be acted against, he remarked.

Karnataka Home Minister on Arrests and Investigation

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said that Subhash s wife, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law have been arrested and are in judicial custody, adding that the investigation into the case is ongoing.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Parameshwara said, He (Subhash) has left behind a suicide note of about 40 pages and he has raised several issues, the most important being the misuse of provisions of the law meant for the protection of women. He has stated that he was being pressured for ₹3 crore and other things, and several cases have been filed against him.

Questions Raised on Men s Rights

The minister said that Subhash had raised questions over the rights of men. He noted that it has become a debatable subject across the country whether there is a need for amendment in the laws as provisions for women s rights are being misused.

Questions are being raised, discussions are being held in the country. There will probably be a need to discuss amendments in the laws at both state and central levels in the coming days, he said.
